Dorene Sefack was born on January 9, 1944 in Newark, NJ.
She and her late husband, Joe, were very involved with giving back to the community. Dorene volunteered with the Woodbridge Township Jaycees, several Presbyterian churches and served on many commmittees such as being a member of the Chamber of Commerce for Future Chevrolet, being appointed to the Mayor’s Committee for the Community Center in Matawan and serving as a Deacon and a Circle leader at the First Presbyterian Church of Matawan. She also joined the Point Pleasant Hospital Guild and helped with many fundraisers.
Dorene always got more out of volunteering than what she gave. It thoroughly enriched her life and taught her things she didn’t know as well as bringing her into contact with some very interesting and kind people.
It gave her a sense of belonging to a community and being useful to others.
Dorene was infamous for her trivia knowledge. She and Joe loved Jeopardy. She also liked playing Bingo and Rummicube as well as doing crossword puzzles. Dorene created beautiful scrapbooks for her grandchildren and wrote stories about our family tree. She wanted to be a writer when she was younger and this was her way of sharing her craft.
Dorene and Joe loved their family get togethers in Point Pleasant. They were the glue that kept everyone together.
Dorene is predeceased by her husband Joseph Sefack of 58 years and her sister Carole Elliot. She leaves behind her Brother in-law Edward Elliot, Son Robert and his wife Lori Sefack, Son Joseph Sefack, Daughter Christina and her Husband Jeffrey Morrissey, Daughter in-law Kimberly Longette and her Husband Michael and Seven Grandchildren Joseph, Robert, & Michael Sefack, Cynthia and her husband Patrick Hall, Kelly and Brianna Morrissey and Jenna Derechailo.
